¶ Extraordinary collaboration between two Scandanavian women artists and diviners. "Ghostvoices" embodies the Scandavian winter and "ghost" impressions of Scandanavian botanical specimens, beautifully eerie and evocative. Merete Veian created the medium using the technique of boiling heavy artist's paper with samples of Scandinavian flora -- leaves, grass, and flowers -- creating unique earth-toned imprints. Camelia Elias has adorned each page with page with calligraphic musings, haiku, and/or glyphs. Veian's papers papers were literally boiled in water alongside with botanicals. First the plant specimens are pressed between the sheets, then boiled under a heavy stone. To the boiling waters is added "cauldron" iron to lend the papers their unique orange and brown tones.
¶ Merete Veian is a textile designer, photographer, writer, and Tarot card reader. She has exhibited her work at many international art fairs. She resides in Norway.
¶ Camelia Elias is a former university professor residing in Denmark. Since her retirement from academia, she has dedicated herself to writing on the philosophy and practice of divination. She also works with oracular language that comes to expression in visual form, from calligraphy to analogue photography, from book design and typography to talismanic art.
The present collaboration takes its name from the 2006 album "Ghostvoices" by the American dark-ambient group Procer Veneficus.
