Scarce and unusual Montana relic, recording the deposit in the U.S. Assay Office 88.22 ounces of gold bullion by Henry Elling, yielding $1,081.15 in gold and $31.10 in silver. This U.S. Assay Office operated from 1874-1933. The document was completed in manuscript at Helena. A reproduction of a similar Montana "Memorandum of Gold Bullion Deposited at the United States Assay Office" is given in the Nov. 1904 issue of Mines and Minerals (vol. XXV, p. 194).
