Dublin: Eason & Son, 1976. First Edition. 8vo. pp., illustrated in b/w and color. Original wrappers, stapled as issued: covers with color reproductions of bindings, inside wrappers are b/w illustrations and text. Slight shelf wear, but a neat copy. *NOT* ex-library! Very good. Item #3178
The slight size of this book does not reflect the significance of the information presented herein, some of which is not available elsewhere. Craig, a leading authority on the history of Irish bookbinding, reproduces in color a surprising number of Irish specimens from the 17th to the early 19th century: bookbinders' workshops are identified, as are the bindings under consideration and their present locations. ¶ Still an essential reference tool: we would not be offering this copy had we not another one on our shelves already.
